Above is a snapshot of the Experiential Learning submission I provided for Peer Education. From day one, I was absolutely astonished at the passion and energy my students brought to the classroom. They all had such incredible stories to tell, about their academic journeys, their expectations in Honors, the friendships they hoped to find, and the discoveries they anticipated in college and beyond. They gave me so much hope and overwhelmed me with a feeling of love for each one of them. I never anticipated caring for them so greatly. Their successes were important, their disappointments motivated me to help them find new paths, and their introspection and thoughtful dedication to the goals of Honors 100 made me realize what a valuable experience we were sharing and how honored I felt to take part in the fledgling steps of their educational journeys as Huskies.
Here is a link to the Google site I created for the Honors 100 cohort I taught during Autumn quarter 2012. Leading this class of bright, energetic young students was one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career. I learned more from them than I ever could have taught, and I am grateful for the ongoing friendships that I have sustained with a few of my stellar students (two of whom ended up joining an ASUW entity that I am a mentor in called UW Leaders, one of whom just became a PE herself). Please feel free to explore the site as a snapshot of my time as a Peer Educator!
